Oliver’s zero-waste refill store to close storefront before end of year – Oliver/Osoyoos News

The store is closing, it’s not goodbye

Zero-waste Oliver store is closing its store ahead of Christmas but is continuing its goal of sustainable business offerings in the new year.

Fillosophy Refill Bar is a container refill store that opened its physical space in 2021. But the owner said the current economy is contributing to the coastal closure.

One social media post Last week founder Linsay Ogden said the mission of the business would continue despite closing its doors on the high street.

β€œIn a town of just 5,000 people, your unwavering support has meant the world to us, but it is clear that maintaining a physical store is not enough in the current economy,” the post reads.

The store was home to 51 small, sustainable Canadian businesses that refilled more than 50,000 containers. There was also a tea house, boba shop and DIY classes.

“We’re taking time to rest, reflect, and explore how we can support Canadian businesses and local producers in new ways. This isn’t farewell; it’s a chance for us to explore new possibilities and keep the heart of Phyllosophy alive in a different form.”

The sustainable store will be open until December 23. Ogden added that he will let people know about any changes or restructurings in the business as soon as they happen.

“Thank you for walking this path with us. The journey continues and I hope you will stay with us from now on.”
