Two Defendants Convicted in Washoe County Burglary Spree

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – Two people, Jacob Cooper and Aisha Bailey, were sentenced to prison after their involvement in a series of residential burglaries in Washoe County. The Washoe County District Attorney’s Office made the announcement Monday.

Cooper was sentenced to 80 years in prison with the possibility of parole after 27 years. Bailey was sentenced to 48 years in prison with the possibility of parole after 14 years.

Detectives linked the defendants to six incidents through evidence and surveillance footage. A lot of weapons, money and jewelry were seized during the theft.

The crimes occurred between December 2022 and February 2023.

On February 13, 2023, Sparks Police detectives noticed a vehicle with stolen plates known to be driven by Cooper parked near a casino. Detectives found Cooper at the casino and arrested him. During a search of the vehicle, police found a gun stolen from one of the victims. Additional searches of Cooper and Bailey’s motel room and storage unit revealed additional items stolen from the burglary victims. Bailey was later arrested while driving one of the victim’s stolen cars.

Cooper was found guilty of all charges by a jury; these include: 3 counts of Burglary from a Home while in Possession of a Firearm, 3 counts of Theft from a Home, 2 counts of Possession of a Stolen Firearm, 2 counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Theft. Being a Felon in Possession of Instruments and a Firearm. He was fined $20,000.

Bailey pleaded guilty to 3 counts of Burglary while Possession of a Firearm, 3 counts of Residential Burglary, 2 counts of Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Stolen Car, Trafficking in a Schedule I Controlled Substance. Possession of Burglary Tools and Possession of a Firearm. He was fined $40,000.

Both are expected to pay restitution of $156,716.
