Former Tallahassee lawmaker Loranne Ausley transferred to Georgia rehab facility after bicycle accident

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – After suffering neck injury from triathlon bike accidentFormer Florida District 3 Senator Loranne Ausley has been transferred to a center in Georgia that specializes in neck and brain injuries, according to her husband, Bill Hollimon.

Ausley was moved from Ascension Sacred Heart Urgent Care and Trauma Center in Panama City to the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, Hollimon said. According to their website, the center “specializes in medical treatment, research, and rehabilitation for people with spinal cord injury, brain injury, multiple sclerosis, spine and chronic pain, and other neuromuscular conditions.”

“She is working hard with her therapists and we are hopeful for a full recovery,” Ausley’s husband wrote on Facebook Sunday. “He’s got a lot of tough work ahead of him, but hard work is good work and he’s ready for it.”

Ausley required surgery on his neck after his accident in early November.

“For those who continue to pray and think of Loranne, our family thanks you,” Holliman said. “You can send his mail to the address below. We ask that you only send uplifting cards, letters and notes; Please do not give gifts or packages.”

Address: Loranne Ausley – BFR505 c/o Shepherd Center, 1860 Peachtree Rd NW, Atlanta, GA 30309.
