Florence County man accused of stabbing man multiple times during argument

FLORENCE COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — A 20-year-old Effingham man has been charged with attempted murder after stabbing someone multiple times over the weekend, the Florence County Sheriff’s Office said Monday.

Javonte Daniel Bass was charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He is being held in the Florence County Detention Center on $31,000 bail.

The sheriff’s office said deputies responded to Laurel Circle in the Florence area at 6 a.m. Saturday morning. When they arrived, one person was taken to the hospital with multiple stab wounds. Their conditions were not immediately available.

According to the sheriff’s office, Bass allegedly instigated an argument that led to a physical fight that ended in a stabbing. There was also an active warrant at the time of the stabbing for trespassing.
