BOLLINGER COUNTY, Mo. – A Southeast Missouri man and woman were sentenced to prison last week for the 2021 murder of a missing Illinois woman.

Eric Nanney (age not stated) and Kaitlyn Morgan (age not stated) were convicted Thursday of murdering 21-year-old Brianna Roberts of Illinois, according to Bollinger County Sheriff Casey A. Graham.

Bollinger County reportedly received Roberts’ missing report on October 14, 2021. Nanney and Morgan were taken into custody the next day after an interview with authorities revealed they were the last people to contact Roberts.

Investigators later found human remains on Nanney and Morgan’s property.

Nanney received a guilty verdict from a Bollinger County jury on Oct. 25, and a four-day trial was held. A judge sentenced him to two life sentences without the possibility of parole, plus an additional 23 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections.

Nanney was charged with life imprisonment for first-degree murder, one life sentence for unlawful use of a weapon, 15 years in prison for armed criminal action, four years in prison for tampering with physical evidence and four years in prison for abandoning a corpse.

Morgan pleaded guilty Thursday, and a judge sentenced him to 30 years in prison for second-degree murder, four years for tampering with physical evidence and four years for abandoning a body.

“Please continue to pray for Brianna’s family and friends. My hope is that the above convictions and sentences will help bring closure to Brianna’s family and friends,” Graham said. Facebook.
