What happened to Paul Bissonnette? Latest news and updates on former Coyotes player injured in alleged six-man assault

Former Coyotes enforcer and current NHL analyst Paul Bissonnette was hospitalized after he was reportedly attacked by six men in Scottsdale, Ariz., on Sunday.

The incident took place in Houston’s restaurant. Scottsdale Police say Bissonnette, one of the stars of TNT’s NHL coverage, tried to help defuse a conflict between the six men and management. He was soon dragged into the joust.

What happened to Paul Bissonnette?

Around 10:30 PM ET (7:30 PM local time), Bissonnette attempted to ease tensions between the six men and Houston management.

According to Scottsdale Police, things escalated when the men allegedly attacked Bissonnette inside and outside the restaurant.

Six people were arrested and charged with assault and disorderly conduct. Their names have not been released yet.

Meanwhile, Bissonnette was transported to a nearby hospital. The severity of the injuries is unknown at this time, but police say they are not life-threatening. The ‘Spittin’ Chiclets’ podcast host urged his X followers to listen to tomorrow’s episode, which will feature former Sportsnet host Jeff Marek and Stanley Cup-winning coach Bruce Boudreau.

“Big podcast tomorrow,” Bissonnette wrote. “Lots of stories.”

Bissonnette, 39, played six years in the NHL, five of them with Phoenix. He recorded seven goals, 15 assists and 340 penalty minutes in 202 games.
