Deadly Benton County crash closes highway, causes water main break to close schools

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A fatal accident that damaged a water main caused the closure of Highway 70 and the closure of Benton County Schools.

On Monday evening around 7 p.m., the Benton County Sheriff’s Office reported a fatal crash on Highway 70 near Big Daddy’s. The Benton County Sheriff’s Office said both the eastbound and westbound highways will be closed until further notice.

“Even if there is no daylight, it will take several more hours,” the Benton County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post.

Additionally, all Benton County Schools will be closed on Tuesday, November 26, due to a water main break serving the city of Camden.

The Benton County Sheriff’s Office asks people to save as much water as possible by using only necessary water.
