Despite the presence of more than enough police personnel in the commissionerate, most of the theft and robbery cases remain unsolved. Despite the police manning nakabandis, patrolling at night and checking vehicles, there has been little decline in thefts.

“Police always have a challenging task on their hands to detect theft. It came after a lengthy investigation, tip-offs from informants and a register of criminals. property crimes and various other investigative methods through which police nab criminals,” said a police officer.

Police claim that judging by the recent incidents of theft in Warangal City and surrounding areas, it appears that professional gangs are operating in Warangal. Due to the activities of interstate gangs in the city and surrounding areas, it becomes difficult for the police to detect criminals.

The theft of gold worth more than Rs 13 million from SBI Bank Rayaparthy branch has caused an uproar across the State. Police have formed special teams to identify the suspect but have not found any leads so far.

While frequent thefts are causing havoc in Warangal Commissionerate, there is also criticism that police officers are failing to stop them. The public wants the police to focus on thefts, identify criminals and focus more on recovering stolen money and gold.
