Lovers of Jacinto Remigio remembered the 73-year-old man, who fell to his death after the attack on the house where three suspects tied his 40-year-old son while walking Remigio’s dog, as a hard-working man. law enforcement sources said.

When he returned home, the burglars had already fled, and while officers were on the scene, he fell through the open window that one of the suspects had used to break into the sixth-floor apartment, sources said.

“I have no idea why this came out,” said Remigio’s son, Geurry Remigio, who was home at the time of the burglary. “I hope his soul is at peace and we are good, honest, hard-working people.”

Authorities suspect Remigio went to close a window left open by the thieves and accidentally fell and hit the scaffolding, sources said. Investigators believe he may have been drunk at the time of the fall.

During the invasion of the home, the trio of thieves, all men, stole a gold chain valued at approximately $8,000 and stole approximately $200 in cash.

Geurry Remigio, who works as a registered nurse, declined to comment on the home invasion and its tragic aftermath, citing the ongoing police investigation.

“I have no idea why this happened, we are honest, hard-working people,” he said of the theft. “I live a very simple and honest life, so I have no idea why this happened.”

He emphasized that his father will be missed by family and community members.

“He was a simple man, came home, spent time with his family, was a grandfather and lived a simple life,” he said. “There’s not much to say. He was an important figure in the community, he knew a lot of people.”
