Four women killed, 16 injured in head-on collision between minibus and truck in Gujarat’s Surendranagar – India TV

4 women lost their lives and 16 people were injured in the tragic accident that occurred when a pickup truck collided with a truck in Surendranagar district of Gujarat. Giving detailed information, local police station in-charge IB Valvi said that the incident was reported in Chotila district around 22:30 on Monday night.

He said there were 20 people in the minibus at the time of the accident. Immediately after the accident, the injured were taken to hospital and treated. Additionally, the official said that two women died at the scene after the collision, and two other women died of injuries in the hospital. The police official added that the bodies of the deceased were sent for autopsy.

Victims were heading to Somnath: Police

According to the police, the victims were going to Somnath for some religious ceremonies when this accident occurred. The officer said that the minibus would go to Somnath from Shiyani village of Surendranagar’s Limbdi taluka. During the journey, the pickup truck coming from the opposite direction collided head-on with the minibus.

At the time of the incident, the truck was turning right to stop near a Dhaba roadside road. Meanwhile, the minibus came from the front and collided with the truck, which caused this accident. The injured were taken to Rajkot Government Hospital after the accident. The identities of the dead were stated as Magjiben Retharia (72), Galalben Retharia (60), Manjuben Retharia (65) and Gauriben Retharia (68).

6 people died in a similar incident

Earlier on November 18, in a similar incident in Gujarat’s Bharuch district, six people, including three children, were killed and four others injured when a private minibus in which they were traveling crashed into a truck.

According to Jambusar police station inspector AV Panamia, the accident took place on the Jambusar-Amod road near Magnad village when 10 people from Vedach village were heading towards Shuklatirth.

Following the incident, Jambusar police registered an FIR under sections 125 (rash or negligent acts endangering human life) and 285 (danger or obstruction on public road or line of traffic) against the unidentified driver of the runaway truck.
