Mother Pregnant with Twins Died in the Middle of the Night: ‘Mindless Loss’

Authorities in Missouri are investigating the shooting death of a mother of two, pregnant with twins, who was found murdered in her home last month.

BreAnna Johnson, 28, was found dead in her Wentzville, Mo., home on Oct. 31. local police he said at the time.

Wentzville police said they arrested Darryl Tyson Jr., 39, on Oct. 31 and charged him with domestic violence for an incident the day before the shooting. He was not charged with the murder.

The investigation began around 4:30 a.m. on Oct. 31, when law enforcement officers responded to a report of a shooting at the Katie Lynn Court residence, the police statement said.

They found Johnson dead at the scene, and his two children were physically unharmed. Police said Tyson was taken into custody for questioning.

Johnson’s mother was four months pregnant with twins at the time of the murder, First Alert 4 reported. According to the fundraiser, one of her two children is 6 months old, the other child is almost 2 years old, and their father is Tyson.

The victim’s mother, Janette Giddens, claims Johnson was physically abused and received a “brutal beating” from Tyson, according to First Alert 4.

Johnson is reportedly seeking support from an organization that works with victims of domestic violence, according to FOX 2 Now.

Founder of Journey Against Domestic and Sexual Abuse, Dr. Cynthia Bennett said Johnson contacted them for help in January, when she was 7 months pregnant with her other child.

“He was reaching for safety,” Bennett said. “He feared for his life.”

The day before the murder, police responded to the woman’s residence due to a domestic dispute, First Alert 4 reported, citing unspecified court documents. Tyson was accused of “throwing a phone at Victim 1’s head” in this incident.

On a GoFundMe set up to help Johnson’s surviving children, his family described his death as an “unacceptable loss.”

“Christ and Jeremiah will never know firsthand the loving mother who was so beautiful and happy with her babies,” the request for financial assistance for Johnson’s funeral states.

Wentzville police are in St. Louis to pursue other charges against Tyson in connection with Johnson’s killing. He said they are working with the Charles County Prosecutor’s Office.

Tyson is currently being held on $500,000 bail, per police. It was not immediately clear whether he had entered a plea or retained an attorney to speak on his behalf.
