Conor McGregor: Tesco among shops linked to MMA star to drop alcohol after rape case | World News

Tesco is among retailers to stop selling alcohol brands linked to Conor McGregor after he lost his civil rape case.

The mixed martial arts star was accused of raping Nikita Hand, who was awarded €248,603 (£206,000) last week. jury finds McGregor attacked him at hotel.

A Tesco spokesman said: Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey has been removed from sale in stores and online, he said.

In a statement, IO Interactive said: “In light of the recent court decision regarding Conor McGregor, IO Interactive has decided to cease its collaboration with the athlete with immediate effect.

“We take this matter very seriously and cannot ignore the consequences.

“As a result, we will begin removing all content featuring Mr. McGregor from our store windows starting today.”

McGregor on Monday responded publicly for the first time Since he lost the Dublin case.

He admitted “mistakes”, repeated his claim that everything that happened that night was “consensual” and said he would appeal the decision.

The post came as hundreds of people held a demonstration in the Irish capital in “total solidarity” with Ms Hand.

Participants chanted “Stand with Nikita” and “No more fear, no more shaming, we reject victim blaming” as they carried signs and banners through the streets.
