FCC Greenlights Space-Based Connectivity Collaboration Between T-Mobile and SpaceX

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) announced that it has approved a groundbreaking license that will allow T-Mobile and SpaceX’s Starlink unit to offer additional internet coverage from space. The decision aims to provide high-speed internet access to remote and underserved areas.

In a historic move, the FCC has allowed a satellite operator to partner with a wireless carrier using some flexible-use spectrum bands typically reserved for terrestrial service. This initiative seeks to eliminate ‘dead zones’ by expanding wireless network access to more isolated areas.

The collaboration between T-Mobile and Starlink will transform remote communications environments and provide broader, more reliable connectivity options for areas previously struggling with connectivity challenges.
