Hamilton County inmate faces jail stabbing charges

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. A Hamilton County inmate is accused of stabbing another inmate earlier this month, an affidavit revealed.

On Nov. 12, an affidavit states a fight broke out between inmates Edgar Goodwin and Demarcus Dillard.

Goodwin tried to punch Dillard, but Dillard was hit instead, the affidavit states.

Later, the affidavit states, Goodwin received a homemade knife from another inmate.

Goodwin entered Dillard’s unit and attacked him with a knife; The affidavit states that the third prisoner hit him with a broom.

The affidavit states Dillard was stabbed multiple times and had to be hospitalized.

Goodwin is charged with conspiracy, attempted first-degree murder and trafficking in a penal institution.
