Pedestrian killed on Austell Road in Cobb County Tuesday morning

COBB COUNTY, Ga. – Cobb County police are investigating a fatal collision involving a pedestrian near Orange Hill Drive and Austell Road Tuesday morning.

Authorities tell FOX 5 that 25-year-old Comfort Nkenganyi was crossing Austell Road when he was struck by a white 2021 Toyota Highlander.

According to investigators, Nkenganyi was at the crosswalk at the time of the accident, but the signal showed “Do Not Walk.”

Authorities said the driver of the vehicle tried to avoid the pedestrian but was unable to get off the road in time.

“Tragically, at least two vehicles then struck Nkenganyi and left the scene without stopping,” the Cobb County Police Department said in a statement. he wrote.

The Cobb County Coroner pronounced the woman dead at the scene.

The case is still under investigation. Authorities have not said whether anyone involved will face charges.
