Court says Slowthai accused of raping woman after concert

rapper Slow Thai He raped two women at a friend’s house party after a concert in Oxford, a court heard today.

The 29-year-old, whose real name is Tyron Frampton, and his accomplice Alex Blake-Walker, 27, are accused of raping the women following his performance at The Bullingdon in Oxford on the evening of September 7, 2021.

Frampton appeared with his wife at Oxford Crown Court Anne-Marie. Both Frampton and Blake-Walker deny three common charges of rape and one count of sexual assault. BBC reports.

The court heard one of the complainants, described as a “big fan” of the rapper, spotted him at a restaurant before the concert and after the conversation added him to his VIP list. Prosecutor Heather Stangoe told the jury the pair met up with a group of friends, including the other complainant, on Frampton’s tour bus.

Stangoe told the court the group returned to one of their homes where the alleged attack took place. The jury was told Frampton insisted on two rules: “no phones and no boys.”

“The Crown says their only purpose in going to that house was for sexual gratification,” Stangoe said.

“It didn’t matter to them whether the subjects they were paying attention to consented or not. Neither woman in this case did that, but that didn’t matter to the two defendants.”

The jury was told that two of the women were “isolated” from their friends when they arrived at the house.

According to Stangoe, Frampton and Blake-Walker then raped and sexually assaulted the women while “joking around” and “high-fiving” them. He said the attack only ended when a friend of the women learned what had happened, and then Frampton jumped from the balcony-style roof where the group was and fled the house.

Patrick Gibbs KC, defending Frampton, told the jury that after the concert Frampton “met his fans as usual”. He said what happened that night between his client and one of his complainants was consensual, although it was “quite out of play”.

He asked the jury to “keep an open mind” during the trial. “What is controversial is whether the women consented,” he said. According to Gibbs, the case was about “the difference between willingly agreeing to something that is exciting and exciting in the moment and regretting it later.”

He also said regret and shame can lead a person to redefine what happened. He said: “Celebrity can have an impact, and it’s up to you to decide in due time whether people will behave differently when a figure leaves their screen for many reasons.”

Sheryl Nwosu, who represented Blake-Walker, said her client denied forcing one of the women to engage in sexual activity. “All sexual contact and acts were consensual,” he said. Independent.
