BREAKING: Man arrested after hit-and-run pedestrian dies on busy Limerick road

GARDAI appeal for witnesses following a hearing fatal hit and run On the north side of Limerick city.

A male pedestrian in his 50s died after being struck by a car on Ennis Road shortly before 2pm on Tuesday.

Gardai remained at the scene and an investigation was launched.

A spokesman said: “The burgundy Ford Focus car, registered 141 C 3717, involved in the collision failed to remain at the scene. The car was later recovered.”

A man in his 30s was arrested in connection with the incident and is currently being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a garda station in the Southern Territory.

Motorists are advised that Ennis Road is currently closed until the scene is examined by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Local deviations exist.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to come forward. Anyone with information about the movements of the Ford Focus during the incident is asked to contact gardaí.

“Any road users who were traveling in the area at the time of the collision and have camera footage, including dashcam footage, are asked to contact gardaí.
