Tributes have poured in for the world’s oldest man, who died peacefully at his care home in Southport aged 112. John Tinniswood was born in Liverpool on 26 August 1912.

John, a lifelong Liverpool supporter, became the world’s oldest living man after the death of Juan Vicente Pérez Mora at the age of 114. In April, he was officially recognized as the world’s oldest man by the Guinness Book of World Records.

Born on 26 August 1912 to Ada and John Bernard Tinniswood, he later married his late wife, Blodwen Tinniswood, and they had a daughter, Susan. He leaves behind his daughter, grandchildren Annouchka, Marisa, Toby and Rupert, and great-grandchildren Tabitha, Callum and Nieve.

His family’s tribute continued: “John had so many good qualities. He was intelligent, determined, courageous, calm in any crisis, talented at mathematics and a great conversationalist.”
