Zoom rebrands as Zoom Communications to focus on AI-driven hybrid work solutions – Technology News

Amid the increasing use of artificial intelligence (AI), many organizations are adopting AI on a large scale. From the IT sector to the communication sector, everyone is using artificial intelligence. Additionally, Zoom, a communications platform, recently took a stance on the use of AI during its rebranding event.

On November 27, Zoom rebranded from Zoom Video Communications Inc. to Zoom Communications Inc. The company claimed that the aim behind this new name is to be the first AI-focused company to offer seamless hybrid business solutions. Let’s take a look at how this will change the way you connect with people.

Zoom Gets a New Name: Zoom Communications Inc.

In an official blog post titled “Let Us Reintroduce Ourselves,” CEO Eric Yuan said the rebranding will make Zoom “an AI-first company that delivers modern, hybrid business solutions that let you collaborate seamlessly.” He explained that the company’s goal since 2011 was to be the ‘best video conferencing solution’, but now they aim to make Zoom ‘a company that prioritizes Artificial Intelligence’.

So what does this actually mean? Yuan explained that Zoom will now include an AI companion that can be integrated into the platform. This means you can use AI for all your video conferencing tasks. For example, if you are in a meeting and asked to take minutes, you can ask your AI friend to jot down the important points discussed during the meeting.

You can also ask the AI to translate languages spoken by your colleagues in other countries. If you can’t understand their language, you no longer need a third-party tool like Google Translate. Now, with artificial intelligence, you can translate foreign languages into a language you understand in real time.

Road Map of the Future

The addition of the artificial intelligence assistant to the Zoom workspace aims to reduce the workload of users. Yuan also emphasized that he believes these capabilities will transform the platform into a fully customizable digital twin. This means the platform will be equipped with your corporate information, allowing you to work all day and “only allowing you to work four days a week.”

So does this mean ‘Zoom’ is gone? In response, Yuan said that Zoom is still here, with a new makeover!

The company said it will raise funds to support future AI goals. The firm also announced that its third-quarter revenue reached $1.177 billion, up 3.6% year over year. But fourth-quarter numbers are expected to be less solid. The company estimates revenue will range between $1.175 billion and $1.180 billion.
