Delhi officials transferred Rs 15 million to personal accounts to earn interest, dismissed – Delhi News

Six officials of the Education Department of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) have been found to be using a new method of corruption to earn illegal income by siphoning off government funds. They are now suspended from duty.

Officials transferred Rs 15 crore scholarship funds to his personal bank accounts. They earned significant interest by keeping the scholarship money in their accounts for about four months before distributing it.

The misappropriation of the fund came to light during a recent audit by the Municipal Corporation, which revealed large-scale corruption.

Following the discovery, Municipal Commissioner Pramod suspended officials named Mansab Joshi, Manju Khatri, Kamal Jeet, Rishipal Rana and Pusha.

The scholarship funds were meant for students belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes in MCD-run schools.

Recovery of improper funds is still pending. The investigation into the incident continues.
