Lawyers in Chattogram went on a two-day strike today (November 27) to protest the killing of lawyer Saiful Islam Alif during clashes between members of law enforcement agencies, advocates and followers of Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, spokesperson of Sammilita Sanatani Jagaran Jote.

Eyewitnesses said that the hearings have been stopped since the morning and lawyers gathered in the courthouse to demand the immediate arrest of the perpetrators.

Additionally, thousands of people attended the Saiful Islamic prayer at the courthouse at 10 a.m. and at the Jamiatul Falah National Mosque grounds at 11:30 a.m.

A protest rally was held, where lawyers expressed their anger and sought justice for their murdered colleagues.

Land Affairs Advisor AF Hassan Ariff, Chattogram City Corporation Mayor Dr Shahadat Hossain, Jamaat-e-Islami Chattogram Metropolitan Ameer Shahjahan Chowdhury, Anti-Discrimination Student Movement Coordinator Hasnat Abdullah, Sarjis Alam, Russell Ahmed and Talat Mahmud Rafi and others were present. protest rally.

Later, leaders and student coordinators of various political parties identified the Hindu religious organization ISKCON as a militant fundamentalist group and demanded an immediate ban on ISKCON’s activities in Bangladesh.

They warned that protests would continue if their demands were not met.

Lawyer Saiful Islam was killed on Tuesday during clashes between police, lawyers and supporters of former ISKCON leader Chinmoy Krishna Das after the court rejected the leader’s bail plea in a sedition case.

Eyewitnesses said unidentified assailants took him to nearby Jangal Cinema Road on the ground floor of the court, beat him and then hacked him to death.

The unrest began when thousands of Chinmoy’s followers gathered at the courthouse, blocking the prison van carrying him and demanding his immediate release.
