Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the semi, 34-year-old Oleh Hrudnenko of Buffalo, Illinois, suffered minor injuries, police said.

Indiana State Police crash reconstructionists were called to thoroughly document the scene.

The investigation into the accident continues.

Police said toxicology results were pending, although there was no initial indication that alcohol or drugs played a role in the incident.
