Yogi Government Will Cover the Cost of Damages to the Rebels and Posters Will Display Accused Photos

The Uttar Pradesh (UP) government has announced plans to hold those responsible for the violence in Sambhal to account, demanding compensation for damages caused to public property.

An official also confirmed that posters featuring people involved in stone-throwing will be displayed in public places. PTI Wednesday (November 27).

The violence in Sambhal occurred on November 24 when a large crowd opposed a court-ordered survey at Shahi Jama Masjid in Kot West district of UP district.

This investigation was triggered by a petition claiming that the mosque was actually the site of the Harihar temple, a Hindu temple. The unrest led to the death of four people and the injury of many others, including police personnel.

A government spokesman said authorities would take a strong stance against the perpetrators. “Posters of stone-throwers and traitors will be displayed publicly,” he added.

The claim goes like this: notes It was earlier done by Sambhal Superintendent of Police (SP) Krishna Kumar Bishnoi. Police used drone cameras and existing CCTV footage from the area to track down the suspect.

The spokesman stated that 27 people have been arrested so far and said: “They will be asked to cover the damages. Rewards may also be announced for those who provide information that will lead to their arrest.” he said.

The move follows a similar approach taken by the government during the anti-CAA protests in 2020, when posters of those allegedly involved in vandalism were displayed across the state.

However, these posters were later removed by court order. UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is known for his tough stance against insurgents, which has led to a decrease in the number of insurgencies under his rule.
