RAF stops payment of R65M in fraudulent claims

CENTURION – The Road Accident Fund has prevented payment of R65 million worth of claims and rejected more than 2000 fraudulent claims in the last three financial years.

This month Siyabulela Kima was sentenced to five years in prison for making fraudulent claims of R300 000.

He claimed that an unknown speeding vehicle overtook a truck, left its lane and collided with his car.

However, investigations revealed that the accident was caused by Kima having an epileptic attack while driving and that a second vehicle was not involved.
