Springfield man arrested for warehouse theft; Found with brass knuckles and jewels

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WICS) — A Springfield man was arrested for burglary and illegal use of a weapon.

At 8:07 a.m. on Nov. 22, Springfield Police officers responded to Mansa Storage, 2171 S. 9th St., requesting a report of a person observed on video crawling through a hole in the fence.

Police arrived at the scene and found a man in one of the warehouses.

The storage unit was not rented to this person. Additional video showed the male trying to enter other units.

The man was identified as Britt H. Utinske, 42.

Utinske found with brass knuckles and jewellery.

Utinske is no longer in custody at the Sangamon County Jail.
