Chennai Court Sentences Three Men to Decades in Prison for Serious Rape of Minor Girls | Chennai News

Chennai: A special court for special proceedings POCSO cases Two men in Chennai were sentenced to 20 years in prison for kidnapping and raping two minor girls. The court sentenced the duo’s accomplice to 10 years in prison.
Giving the order on Tuesday, sessions judge M Rajalakshmi directed the state to pay ₹ 1.35 lakh as compensation to the survivors.
Two female students studying in classes IX and Three days later, they went to Guindy police station and announced their escape and contacted 27-year-old I Mani from Vadapalani, whom they had befriended on social media.
According to Guindy’s all-women police, Mani initially tried to harass the girls at his home, then took them to a nearby hall that evening along with his friends S Dinesh (26) and H Shankar (46). They tried to rape them in the hallway. The next morning, the boys dropped the girls at Koyambedu bus stand. The girls sought help from a friend, who advised them to contact the police.
Further investigation revealed that Shankar had raped one of the girls by luring her to the TV shooting sets six months ago. The three men were charged under Section 366 (kidnapping) of the IPC and the provisions of the POCSO Act.
In a separate case, the court on Thursday sentenced 24-year-old S Ramu from Bihar to 20 years in prison for raping a minor girl. Ramu, who worked as a servant in the girl’s house, attacked the girl in the guest room while other family members were sleeping.
