Brooks’ son and nephew were in the bed of his pickup truck as it drove toward Porter Road.

The nephew told deputies that Brooks was driving too fast on Porter Road, especially because the street was wet.

When the pickup truck arrived at Love’s Truck Stop, the children were worried Brooks would take them onto the interstate.

The two knocked on the truck door to get Brooks’ attention.

“They feared for their lives due to his intoxication,” according to the citation.

Two children then jumped out of the truck.

The quote states that Brooks never stopped. His nephew was slightly injured.

However, the citation states that Brooks’ son is in a coma at the University of Kentucky HealthCare Hospital with a possible brain injury.

Brooks faces charges of wanton endangerment, endangering the welfare of a minor and leaving the scene of an accident.
