Yakima police investigation leads to arrest in child pornography case

TOPPENISH, Wash. – A Toppenish man was arrested and appeared in preliminary court Wednesday facing multiple criminal charges of possessing and selling child pornography.

In March, the Yakima Police Department received a tip about an email account that Yahoo had flagged as containing sexually explicit material.

A YPD Detective investigated and located the suspect’s address at a trailer park in Yakima.

In April, the detective obtained search warrants seeking information from Yahoo and US Cellular.

In May, another cyber tip was received regarding the same suspect, with 36 emails in which the files were flagged by Yahoo for sexually explicit reasons.

In November, a YPD detective obtained a signed search warrant for the suspect and his electronic devices, who had moved to Toppenish.

The suspect was arrested on Tuesday and admitted to buying and selling child sexual abuse material.
