Chicago crime: Security guard stabbed at Walgreens on South Commercial Avenue in South Chicago, police and authorities say

CHICAGO (Wales) — A man was stabbed at a Walgreen store on the city’s South Side Wednesday afternoon. The company said the victim was a security guard.

Chicago police said the stabbing happened in the 9100 block of South Commercial Avenue around 1:25 p.m.

Chopper 7 was at the scene where Chicago police could be seen. It was not immediately clear whether the stabbing took place inside or outside Walgreens.

Police say a 35-year-old man was stabbed in the shoulder with a knife after a verbal argument with his attacker that turned physical.

The injured person was taken to the hospital in good health.

“We are aware of and cooperating with CPD’s investigation. The safety of everyone in our stores is our priority,” a spokesperson for Walgreen said in a statement. he said.

Police said the gunman fled the scene in a silver Dodge minivan.

No arrests were made. Chicago police are continuing to investigate.
