Two arrested after drug bust in Rocky Mountain

EDGECOMBE COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – Two men are behind bars on multiple drug charges following a home invasion in East Carolina, deputies said.

The Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office said its narcotics unit raided a home at 1010 Moore Street in Rocky Mount on Wednesday.

Deputies say the search warrant was issued due to complaints and drug traffic. Last month, deputies said several controlled purchases of cocaine were made from the home.

Deputies say crack cocaine, marijuana, scales and U.S. currency were seized during the raid. Two men in the house, Lonnie Sharpe and Oliver Lewis, the main targets of the investigation, were arrested.

The following accusations were made against Sharpe:

  • Sell/deliver cocaine
  • 2 counts of possession with intent to sell/deliver cocaine.
  • Sell/deliver within 300 meters of a park
  • 2 counts maintain a residence for storing controlled substance
  • Simple possession of marijuana

Sharpe was given a $100,000 secured bond and taken to the Edgecombe County Jail.

Lewis was accused of:

  • Possession with intent to sell/deliver cocaine
  • Maintain a residence to store the controlled substance

Lewis was given a $25,000 bond and taken to the Edgecombe County Jail.
