Man accused of aggravated attack with screwdriver arrested

ST. GEORGE — St. A man was arrested Wednesday morning following an argument that ended in a stabbing with a screwdriver, according to the St. George Police Department.

According to the booking affidavit, the male victim was found dead in St. Louis with a stab wound to his neck. George Regional Hospital.

The victim and his friends claimed that 32-year-old Andrew Perkins stabbed him after an argument escalated. The affidavit also stated the argument ended before Perkins returned with a gun and began stabbing the victim.

Police said the victim’s injury was a puncture wound on the left side of his neck, which missed the victim’s windpipe and stopped just short of his spine.

Some emergency personnel believed a screwdriver caused the puncture, police said in a statement.

At least five witnesses saw Perkins stab the victim, but police said he denied it.

The screwdriver was later found behind Perkins’ bed in an attempt to hide it, according to testimony.

Police said Perkins was arrested for aggravated assault and faces additional charges of drug possession and probation/parole violation.
