2 killed in plane crash in Smith County

SMITH COUNTY, Texas (KLTV) – Two people were found dead following a plane crash in northwest Smith County on Wednesday.

According to Texas DPS Sgt. Adam Albritton, plane crashed around 10 p.m.

Smith County Emergency Services Region 2 and Smith County Sheriff’s deputies were initially called to search for the downed small plane.

Deputies found the crash scene on private property near Lake Burleson, just north of Live Oak Drive.

When they arrived, they found two people dead, according to Albritton.

Both the National Transportation and Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are investigating the incident.
