Rewari robbery: 4 SHOs suspended for negligence

Chandigarh: Haryana DGP Shatrujeet Kapur Keeping a close eye on a recent robbery in Rewari district, he ordered the suspension of four SHOs for negligence. DGP Kapur, who chaired the meeting with senior police officers at Police Headquarters, emphasized that law and order will not be compromised and strict action will be taken against officers or personnel who neglect their duties. Various strategies to effectively maintain law and order were discussed in the meeting attended by senior police officers from across the state, including SPs and IGPs, through video conferencing. Emphasizing the importance of accountability, the DGP urged officers to increase police visibility in the field and interrogate suspicious persons regularly. He called for task-based assignments to staff that include daily reporting to ensure better oversight and improved police operations.
Kapur reiterated that any level of negligence would invite strict sanctions. He instructed officials to hold field personnel accountable for incidents that occur within their jurisdiction, focusing particularly on the routes taken by criminals before and after committing crimes. To improve district level operations, the DGP instructed the SPs to conduct regular training sessions on new penal laws and use of weapons. In addition to reviews to ensure effectiveness, refresher courses for SWAT teams have also been recommended. He also recommended holding regular meetings with representatives from jewelers’ associations, banks, petrol pumps and commercial establishments to share precautionary measures and improve coordination with the police.
