Seven people in court over Maccabi violence, one facing attempted murder

It has been decided that seven people will appear in court next month in connection with the violence that took place before and after the Ajax Maccabi Tel Aviv football match on November 7.

A 22-year-old man from the Eindhoven region is charged with attempted murder, grievous bodily harm and crimes against public order. prosecution department he said on Friday.

Six others, three from Amsterdam and others from Monnickendam, Utrecht and The Hague, face charges of violent disorder on or after the match, as well as robbery, public insult and possession of fireworks. A man was accused of sharing information about violence.

The cases of seven people aged between 19 and 32 will be heard in Amsterdam on Wednesday, 11 and Thursday, 12. Five of them are currently in custody, while the other two were previously released.

In a few days, six more people will appear in court in connection with the disturbances in Amsterdam. The prosecutor’s office said three of them were minors.

The prosecutor’s office also stated that it had received numerous official complaints about Maccabi fans attacking others and about people attacking Maccabi fans.

Police are still analyzing footage from the incident and further arrests are expected. Three men were captured after television crime program broadcasts showing blurry footage.

Attacks

Five fans of Israeli club Maccabi Tel Aviv were hospitalized after being attacked by Amsterdam mayor Femke Halsema: “hit and runby “youngsters on scooters” after the Europa League draw with Ajax.

Police have not yet said how many people were attacked and how many incidents occurred.

Police detained 62 people crimes On the day of the match, 10 of them were Maccabi fans.
