Slowthai rape accused denied being jealous, court heard

A woman who was allegedly raped by rapper Slowthai denied being jealous of the affection he showed her friends, a court heard.

The Grammy-nominated musician, whose real name is Tyron Frampton, is accused of raping the woman at a house party after a performance in Oxford.

Frampton, 29, and his friend Alex Blake-Walker, 27, are on trial at Oxford Crown Court, accused of raping two women in the early hours of September 8, 2021.

The woman told the jury she was attacked on the roof of the property after meeting the singer at The Bullingdon bar after a gig. She said she broke up with her boyfriend the day before and went out with friends to socialize, drink, and take ketamine and cocaine.

“I wasn’t angry, just sad,” he told the jury.

“That wasn’t an issue as the night progressed. By the end of the night I had almost forgotten about it.

“When I woke up, I decided, yeah, I’m going to take drugs and drink.”

While testifying, she denied allegations that she had sexual intercourse with Frampton because she was jealous that the musician had previously kissed one of her friends.

She also denied allegations that she later filed a rape complaint after being called a “slut” by another friend.

Heather Stangoe, prosecuting, asked: “Were you told, on Mr Frampton’s behalf, that you were in competition with your friend and wanted to take him off the roof because you were jealous?”

The woman replied: “That’s not true. She was the same age as my sister and I felt protective.

“She was a sweet girl and didn’t deserve what happened to her.”

The prosecutor asked, “What is your response to the allegation that you were in competition with the other girls in that house?” he asked.

He replied: “Disgusting. These are my friends. This is not a competition. “It’s not a reward.”

The complainant was also asked to comment on allegations that she made the allegations because one of her friends called her a “slut”.

The woman replied: “This remark does not bother me. Actually, it wasn’t that big of a deal. “It was his anger, not the words he said to me.”

The court heard that after arriving at the flat, Frampton and Blake-Walker went onto the roof of the property with the two complainants.

The prosecution alleges that Blake-Walker raped the first complainant while being encouraged by Frampton, and that Frampton raped the second complainant twice while being encouraged by Blake-Walker.

Both are said to have sexually assaulted the woman Frampton allegedly raped.

Patrick Gibbs KC, representing Frampton, claimed the complainant and the musician began kissing and touching each other consensually while Blake-Walker was kissing the other woman.

“Then you started oral sex?” he asked.

“I didn’t mean to do that, no,” he replied. “This wasn’t a matter of two couples. I threw up, I didn’t want to be there. He didn’t want to be there. I heard him trying to move away and retching. “He was trying to do a lot of disgusting things.”

Mr Gibbs asked: “You did it with enthusiasm, didn’t you?”

He replied: “No, I didn’t.”

The complainant said Frampton then pushed her against the wall and began raping her, denying that he was an active participant.

“I was completely silent,” he said.

“I couldn’t lie down – I was moved and pushed to the floor. We were interrupted because a friend of ours came, opened the window, shouted and then jumped off the roof and ran away.

“I wasn’t a human being. He wasn’t doing anything for me; It was all about him.”

Mr Gibbs asked: “You say you were assaulted on your way home, you were assaulted in the garden, you were assaulted on the stairs, you were assaulted and raped on the roof, and all the while you say you were protesting or protesting. Negative?”

“No, I didn’t. I just didn’t want to make a scene and make a big deal. “I don’t like making big issues,” he replied.

“I thought I would handle this, go back home to bed, and act like nothing happened.

“There were no regrets afterwards. It was right after I realized the whole thing was an attack.

“As all this was happening, I immediately realized that I had been raped.”

Frampton, of Wellingborough Road, Northampton, and Blake-Walker, of Wallbutton Road, south-east London, deny three charges of joint rape and one count of sexual assault against the two women.

The trial continues.
