Celtics Announcer Has Epic Reaction to Jaylen Brown’s Huge Poster Dunk

Jaylen Brown dunked all over Chicago Bulls center Jalen Smith on Friday night. In addition to the Jaylen-on-Jalen offense, there was also the epic call from Celtics play-by-play commentator Drew Carter.

Brown attacked Smith with the Celtics leading by just one point in the fourth quarter of an NBA Cup bracket game, prompting Carter and NBC Sports Boston broadcast partner, color analyst and former Celtic Brian Scalabrine, to rise from their seats.

“He’s setting the screen for JB,” Carter said on the broadcast as Brown ran toward the basket. Then Carter had to scream before he could finish his sentence. “Oh my God! The gravedigger has come to Chicago.”

Brown said last month He said that he had several nicknames, but that he grew to like the nickname “gravedigger” for himself. Carter made sure he did his part to make the name stick.

Boston held on to beat Chicago 138-129 on Friday. The Celtics were 16-3 in the regular season and improved to 3-1 in NBA Cup bracket play. The Atlanta Hawks won Group C East thanks to a head-to-head tiebreaker over the Celtics. Boston still has an opportunity to advance to the knockout stage of the NBA Cup as the Eastern Conference’s wild card team, but they will need help from other teams to overturn the point spread.
