Hope for Families as End of Prison Sentence of Two Indian Men in Pakistan | Ludhiana News

The sentences of 2 people detained in Pakistan are over, their families are waiting for their return

Ludhiana: There is a ray of hope for the families of two men who were swept away in the Satluj river in Pakistan’s Ferozepur during the floods nearly a year ago. The teenagers’ families were reportedly told that their sentences in a Pakistani prison had ended.
Meanwhile, the sarpanch of Parjian Biharipur village said hopes of getting the men back were reignited as police recorded their statements for verification.
The statements will be sent to the concerned office in Delhi. Meanwhile, the families of the young people are impatiently waiting for their return.
Harwinder Singh27, a driver from Parjian Biharipur in Ludhiana district and rattanpalA 26-year-old man from Khaira Mustarka in Mehatpur, Jalandhar was reportedly swept away by Satluj river in Ferozepur district on July 26 last year. They reached Pakistan and were arrested by Pakistani rangers.
A few days later, Pakistan’s ISPR (Inter-Services Public Relations) claimed that Pakistani rangers had nabbed six Indians (including Harwinder Singh and Rattanpal) between July 29 and August 3 last year for smuggling arms, ammunition and drugs into the country.
Speaking to TOI, Harwinder’s wife Sikandar Kaur said that about 15 to 20 days ago, a man called from Pakistan and said that her husband and Ratanpal’s prison sentence had ended. He added that in their first communication around the end of July, they requested about Rs 15,000 to pay the fine, but in the last meeting, they said the money was not needed.
“About a month ago, some paperwork was being prepared to verify the records of my husband and Rattanpal. Panchayat member sarpanch and my father Jeet Singh went to the office for police check. “We hope my husband and Rattanpal return as soon as possible,” she said, adding that in her husband’s absence, her elderly father had to support his family as a worker.
Village sarpanch Jasvir Singh said the verification statement will be sent to Chandigarh before being sent to Delhi for action. He added that the two men had gone to Ferozepur’s Rajo Gatti village to help a relative during the flood-like situation and that they were not involved in any illegal activity.
Meanwhile, Harwinder’s father Mukhtyar Singh, 59, said that his wife Surjeet Kaur was bedridden. He asked the relevant agencies to help bring Harwinder and Rattanpal back home.
Earlier this year, Harwinder Singh’s sister and Rattanpal’s relative, Balwinder Kaur, said that Rattanpal’s mother, Pyaro Bai, died around 50 due to her son’s deteriorating health following his incarceration in a Pakistani prison. He added that Harwinder’s mother, Surjeet Kaur, also had a heart attack when she heard that her son had been sentenced to eight months in prison in Pakistan.
