Former judge of Roadies, Raghu Ram, recently talked about his time on the show and revealed the reason behind his tough personality and why he left. Raghu, who is known for his intense style, explained that his aim is never to be cruel but to bring out the true personalities of the contestants.

He explained that he treats people the way they treat him. If someone was kind to him, he would reciprocate in kind, but if someone was being bullied, he would show kindness in return. “I will meet you as you meet me. “If you meet us sweetly, if someone was bullied, we would be sweet to him,” he said and added, “There was a contestant Raju Babu Chaudhary, he had a vada pavement stall. This is from Roadies 9, it was beautiful. He said to me, ‘Sir, please smile once, I come from a poor family, I will be scared if you scold me,’ and we hugged him.”

Raghu Ram also admitted that there were times when he deliberately made the selection process more intense, especially if he liked a particular contestant. He stated that if a contestant gets a joint, it is their problem, not his. He continued: “Someone has knuckledusters, that’s their problem, not mine… Having said that, there were times when I liked someone, I would do it very intensely because everyone who watches is also a judge, so whether that person gets chosen or not is their prerogative… If I liked someone, Rajiv (Lakshman) knew it, Rannvijay (Singha) knew it, then it’s like let’s go. We had codes, we were writing, ‘I like it, buy it’… Our need is to cast a person, see how he reacts, and reveal his reactions. “They either cry or fight or do something to make the man feel like they want to see him.”

Raghu Ram left Roadies due to increasing pressure from the producers who wanted him to be more dramatic and shout at the contestants. He admitted that his behavior might upset people at times, but he was just doing his job. “At that time, I acted in a way that caused people problems. But I was doing something, I don’t know whether it was right or wrong. Same thing, impressing, Poonam Pandey, I don’t know… If you hate me for what I did, then you are considered guilty. I’m not apologizing to you about this.”
