Here are all the events taking place at the University of Glasgow

Here’s how you can join a worldwide campaign against gender-based violence on campus

16 Days of Activism is a worldwide campaign that aims to raise awareness and help victims of gender-based violence.

According to the United Nations “16 Days of Activism It is an opportunity to reinvigorate commitments and call for accountability and action from decision-makers as the world approaches.30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action in 2025– a visionary plan to ensure gender equality and the rights of women and girls everywhere.”

At the University of Glasgow, a number of events, large and small, are being held on campus to raise awareness and funds for those experiencing gender-based violence.

Banner making at QMU

You will be able to enter the QMU Game room and open a banner on November 27 between 18.00-21.00. All materials will be provided and donor opportunities and resources will be provided.

There is also protest banner making with FemSoc, GSC and SRC in the Williams Room in the McIntyre Building.

Struggle for the Night March

A march through the streets of Glasgow will begin at the Eldon Street entrance of Kelvingrove Park from 6pm on 28 November. Multiple universities are participating; The University of Glasgow meeting point is at the memorial gate at 17.30.

Making reusable pads with GUFashionRevolution

QMU games on November 29 from 5-8 p.m. All needed materials will be provided and donations and resource opportunities will be provided.

Film Screening with Glasgow Girls Club

There will be a movie screening at Jims Bar on December 2 between 18.00-20.00. ‘Promising Young Women’ will also be screened, as well as the short film ‘What a Stop’, prepared by the Glasgow Girls’ Club.

Open mic night with Qmunicate

There is an Open Mic night on December 3rd hosted by QMU’s broadcast Qmunicate and runs from 7pm to 10pm.

Yoga for Choice: A CSC and FemSoc event

A yoga event will take place on December 6 between 18.30-19.30 in the ARC seminar room 237BC. A suggested donation of £3 is suggested for this. What a pleasant event!

Gender-based violence panel with Femcollab and QMU Welfare

A panel discussion discussing GBV and various related issues will be held on 9 December at Jims Bar at QMU from 6-8pm.
