Far North District Council said the improvements would not only be essential for residents but would also facilitate future growth in the area.

The long-awaited Donald Rd wastewater upgrade has come to the fore for the first time with the contract awarded to Northland-based company United Civil Construction.

The work will include the installation of new sewage tanks and pumps, new manholes and pipes for both sewer and stormwater systems. New sewage tanks and pumps will be built near the intersections of Donald Rd and North Park Drive, and new pipes will be installed along Donald Rd, starting just after the SH1 junction and extending for approximately 1.3km.

This will support future housing developments in the Donald Rd catchment. Work is scheduled to begin on Monday, October 28 and is expected to be completed by the end of April 2025.
