Cybertruck owner Jacob Feder of Miami, Florida, says his truck’s air compressor stopped working after he used the bed to haul hay. Additionally, because the compressor powers the air suspension, Jacob’s truck now feels unstable after the rear suspension begins to sink into the ground.

Jacob shared his distress Cybertruck Owners Only Group on Facebook. Here’s what they said…

“The compressor stopped working so we decided to turn on our Cybertruck and see what it was and I found this. A few weeks ago I was hauling hay in the back of the truck and apparently a bunch of it fell on the ground.”

Under his post, Jacob shared two photos of the Cybertruck’s hay-filled underbed area. as you see picturesIf you go to the Cybertruck Owners Only group on Facebook, there is hay everywhere under the bed.

The air compressor, air tank bottle, and complex electronics are all covered in straw. Not only that, but the chaff also lands in the rear drive unit compartment.

As Jacob explains, it has been weeks since he last hauled hay; but the way Tesla designed the truck, debris can easily get under the bed and get stuck there unless you remove the bed and clean underneath it.

This is bad design, and Jacob goes on to explain how the stuck straw stops the air compressor from working.

Here’s what they said…

“I think the compressor inlet is clogged with straw and overheating. I love my truck but it’s just a bad design. There needs to be a seal to prevent this from happening.

It’s bad enough that the air compressor can easily be removed by items you carry on the bed; but Jacob says the fact that it can be easily blocked poses more danger.

“Not only is this a potential fire hazard, but the straw also blocks the ‘channel’ that Tesla uses here to direct water when it rains into the bed.”

This means that straw, an overheating compressor, sensitive electronic lines, and standing water can all be found in a confined space, potentially creating the perfect recipe for disaster.

Continuing on his mission, Jacob explains how the compressor issue caused his truck to be unstable and sink more in the rear than in the front.

“I swept up as much hay as I could, but it was and still is everywhere down there. The rear end of my truck now sits lower than the front end… I think the compressor died moderately and now the air in the rear has slowly leaked out. If the compressor dies, its air should automatically go down to the low level or intake level .”

The Cybertruck’s air suspension and automatic load leveling feature are nice additions; However, the meeting of high technology with the real world also raises a problem. This is especially true when, as with the Tesla, some easy details are overlooked, such as properly sealing the area under the bed.

Finally, as with all Cybertruck failures, if you thought Jacob’s situation was bad, Tesla’s subpar service department made it worse.

Jacob continues his article:

“The next service appointment in my area will be in January, but I’ll go in the morning to see what they say.”

It doesn’t seem fair to me to have to wait 2 months while your $100,000 car slowly sinks into the ground. But please let us know what you think in the comments.
