The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded around 11:15 a.m. to a 911 call about a possible stabbing at a home in the 10000 block of MacGregor Drive in Pensacola, about 200 miles west of Tallahassee.

According to Bingham, Grant was “locked in his room” when Bingham told him to come out.

“He got really mad at me and told me to fuck off and didn’t want to hang out with me or have a relationship with me,” Bingham said.

“I’m just trying to help you,” Bingham said he told Grant, according to WEAR. The attack allegedly took place at that time.

“He had a knife in his hand, which I didn’t see at the time,” Bingham told the station. “I felt it (stab) next to me. He then tried to stab me again but cut off my thumb trying to defend myself. His arms were in my hand… so I took my right foot and tripped him. That’s how I escaped and called 911. Then he locked himself in the room.”

Bingham said he was “just trying to be a good guy” and helped Grant in his time of need.

“And that’s the recognition I get,” he said.

The sheriff’s office reportedly said the incident was not being treated as domestic violence.

Grant remained in custody as of Friday. He is being held without bail, records show. Grant is currently scheduled to appear in court on December 20 at 8:30 a.m.
