Suspect who hit victim with shovel during fight with Palmer arrested

PALMER, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – A suspect was arrested for assault and battery in Palmer Sunday afternoon.

According to the Palmer Police Department, just before 5 p.m., officers responded to a downtown home for a report of a fight.

One person was about to leave as officers arrived.

Authorities said it was immediately apparent that the man had struck another person several times with a shovel, causing minor cuts and injuries.

The suspect was arrested for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

This incident is currently under investigation by the Palmer Police Department.
