The family of Renukaswamy, who was allegedly killed by Darshan Thoogudeepa and others, on Wednesday refused to comment on the Karnataka High Court granting interim bail to the actor on medical grounds, but expressed confidence that the culprits will be punished as they have faith in the judiciary and the police.

In a relief to Darshan, an accused in the Renukaswamy murder case, the Court granted him interim bail for a period of six weeks to undergo spinal surgery.

How did Renukaswamy’s family react to the interim bail?

“According to the legal system, bail was granted, we cannot comment on this matter. We have full faith that the criminals will be punished. We trust the law and the police. His (Darshan’s) treatment is a matter that concerns the Doctor, him and the court, we do not want to comment on it,” Renukaswamy’s father Kashinath Shivanagoudar told reporters.

“We have nothing to say except that the criminals should be punished. “We have faith in the law and the judiciary, so we have full faith that the criminals will be punished,” he said.

Renukaswamy’s wife Sahana had given birth to a baby boy on October 16. She was five months pregnant when her husband was killed.

Darshan was arrested on June 11 and sent to Ballari jail. His friend Pavithra Gowda and 15 others are among the accused in the case.

Pavithra is lodged in Bengaluru jail while others are lodged in various jails in the state; some were recently released on bail.

What is the Renukaswamy murder case?

According to police, 33-year-old Renukaswamy, a fan of the actor, had sent obscene messages to her friend Pavithra, which enraged Darshan, allegedly leading to the murder. His body was found near a stormwater drain next to an apartment building in Sumanahalli on June ninth.

One of the accused, Raghavendra, who was part of Darshan’s fan club in Chitradurga, had brought Renukaswamy to a shed in RR Nagar on the pretext that the actor wanted to meet him. He was allegedly tortured and killed in this shed.

According to the autopsy report, Renukaswamy, a native of Chitradurga, died due to shock and bleeding as a result of multiple blunt injuries.

Police said accused number one Pavithra was the “main cause” of Renukaswamy’s murder, claiming that investigation had proven that she had instigated the other accused, conspired with them and participated in the crime.
