Geauga County Sheriff’s Deputy injured, business severely damaged in accident

MUNSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A Munson Township family business was badly damaged after a crash involving a truck and a Geauga County Sheriff’s cruiser.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol confirmed that the 29-year-old Sheriff’s Deputy was taken to a nearby hospital for non-life-threatening injuries following the crash.

There is now a large yellow tarp out front of Country Farleys Store and debris is scattered everywhere.

Emergency responders closed Mayfield Road at State Route 44 in Munson.

They were called here just before 9pm on Tuesday for a crash involving two vehicles.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a Sheriff’s Department cruiser driven by a 29-year-old man was traveling southbound when it struck a westbound Dodge Ram.

Investigators say the sheriff’s deputy did not yield and forced both cars off the road and into the building.

The owners of Country Farleys Store live upstairs and heard the violent crash.

They came downstairs in front of their store, they were literally robbed.

They told our Nightly News Follower that there were no major injuries here, but the cleanup would be tiring.

This comes as we prepare to celebrate 100 years of running this beloved family business.

They shared photos and videos showing what happened after the accident and the great damage.

The vehicles are ruined.

The white pickup truck crashed in front of the workplace.

A Geauga County Sheriff’s cruiser sits right across from it.

Investigators confirmed the other driver, a 45-year-old from Chardon, was not injured.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said alcohol, drugs or speed were not a factor.

The investigation continues.
