Armie Hammer Returns to Acting Following Sexual Assault Allegations in ‘Frontier Crucible’

Army Hammer The last canceled star to return to cinema. The actor, who faced allegations of sexual assault by multiple women in 2021, is preparing to star in the western series “Frontier Crucible”.

Hammer announced the project via an Instagram post“Back in the saddle,” he captioned it. The upcoming independently financed project comes from producer Dallas Sonnier (“Bone Tomahawk”) and his Bonfire Legend production company and stars Thomas Jane (“Boogie Nights,” “The Mist”). Travis Mills (“The Pendragon Cycle”) will direct the film, adapted from Harry Whittington’s novel “Desert Stake-Out”. Shooting is expected to begin next month in Monument Valley and Prescott, Ariz.

The upcoming film also stars Myles Clohessy (“The Pendragon Cycle”), Eli Brown (“Run Hide Fight”), Eddie Spears (“Yellowstone”) and Zane Holtz (“Hunter Killer”). Jonah Kagen, known for his music career, and Australian newcomer Mary Stickley are also part of the project.

In 2021, Hammer’s ex-girlfriend Efrosina Angelova accused Hammer of raping her in 2017. Angelova also admitted that she was behind the anonymous Instagram account that posted sexual texts that Hammer allegedly sent to several women. After Angelova came forward, two other women accused Hammer of harassment: Courtney Vucekovich and Paige Lorenze. In total, Hammer was accused of sexual assault, physical abuse, and telling at least one woman that he wanted to “consume her.”

Hammer and his team rejected these allegations. The LAPD launched an investigation into the accusations and concluded in 2023 that there was insufficient evidence to charge Hammer. Following the controversy, the movie star stepped away from acting for a while.
