Chico man arrested for possession of child pornography and contact with minors

CHICO, Calif. — A 25-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday, October 30, after he was found to be in possession of child pornography, according to the Chico Police Department (CPD).

Earlier this month, CPD said they received a tip that 25-year-old David Valdovinos of Chico was found to be in possession of child pornography at his residence.

On Oct. 23, police executed a search warrant at Valdovinos’ home in the 700 block of San Antonio Drive in Chico. Child pornography was detected on the electronic devices belonging to Valdovinos seized by the police during the search.

CPD said that during the investigation, they learned that Valdovinos was communicating with children under the age of 18 for an obscene purpose through Snapchat, which is also a social media platform.

On October 30, Valdovinos was arrested for possession of child pornography, distribution of child pornography, and two counts of contact with a minor for lewd purposes. Valdovinos was booked into the Butte County Jail, CPD said.

“The Chico Police Department would like to remind parents to be aware of and closely monitor any social media or online websites used by children to protect against the threat of online child predators,” CPD said.
