Police say Avondale teacher tried to meet teenage girl for sex

AVONDALE, AZ (AZfamily) — A West Valley high school teacher faces child sex crime charges after police say he was caught propositioning a 15-year-old girl for sex but was actually talking to an undercover agent.

Authorities say 28-year-old Domenik Brewer is one of those involved in child sex trafficking after he was arrested during an operation last week.

Court documents say Avondale police conducted an operation in conjunction with the West Valley Sex Trafficking Task Force.

Police said a fake ad was placed on a site known at the time for child sex trafficking and prostitution.

Authorities said the ad depicted a 15-year-old girl and contained language that implied she was a child. Investigators said Brewer texted the number posted in the ad and said she was 27, while the agent who made the disclosure said she was 15.

After the manager told her she was underage, Brewer reportedly said, “Wow,” and then said, “I think I’ll try it,” before asking how much money the girl wanted.

Court documents say Brewer talked about performing oral sex and showed interest in “full services.” Brewer then agreed to pay $150 and continued to talk about whether to use a condom, a conversation that suggested he was talking to a teenage girl and a high school student.

Detectives linked the phone number to Brewer and awaited his arrival after Brewer said he would arrive in a black Volkswagen car. He was arrested after arriving at the agreed meeting point.

After his arrest, Brewer said that he was a coach for the Phoenix Suns Youth Basketball Team and that they played in many fields, not just at the Footprint Center. Additionally, a detective said he was a permanent substitute teacher at West Point High School in Avondale, the document said.

During the meeting, authorities said, he admitted that he visited a website that would direct him to become an escort, that he knew the girl in the ad was 15, and that they agreed on a deal, according to the documents.

With permission, detectives unlocked his cell phone, showed him the text messages that came with the trap, and later called his wife to explain that he was “incompetent” and had been arrested for child sex trafficking and was trying to have sex with her. With a 15 year old boy.

Brewer was found with $160 on him at the time of his arrest. He has since been jailed on $50,000 cash bond.

Arizona Family reached out to the Tolleson Union High School District for comment but did not immediately receive a response.
