Chatham County Superior Court and Grand Jury Updates for October 30, 2024

35-year-old woman accused of killing her mother and uncle

On October 23, a Chatham County grand jury indicted Holly Scott for the murders of her mother, Shirley Doulin, and her uncle, James Doulin.

Scott, a 35-year-old Chatham County resident, was charged with malice murder and felony murder in connection with a double homicide that occurred July 31 at 45 Morgan Road in Bloomingdale, Ga. Bloomingdale Police investigated the incident. A press release from the Chatham County District Attorney’s Office.

A hearing has not been scheduled.

Former National Education Board child nutritionist charged with child abuse

On October 23, a Chatham County grand jury indicted Christopher John O’Malley on three counts of child molestation and three counts of seduction of a child for indecent purposes.

According to the indictment, O’Malley allegedly molested two children under the age of 16 between January 1, 2014, and January 8, 2023, and November 25, 2020, and November 24, 2021. The allegations included that O’Malley “illegally” solicited, enticed, and took a child to an apartment on King George Boulevard “for the purpose of child molestation.”

O’Malley began working for SCCPSS as a substitute teacher on Jan. 26, 2009, Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools spokeswoman Sheila Blanco wrote in an email. Blanco added that O’Malley was still working at SCCPSS as of January 18, 2023, but had not worked at any SCCPSS site since January 6, 2023.

In a recent email, SCCPSS Communications Director Stacy Jennings confirmed that O’Malley “has not been assigned to the District in any way.”

Despite the indictment, O’Malley is able to hold multiple teaching certifications, including the Director of School Nutrition certification. Georgia Professional Standards Commission.

On January 18, 2023, Chatham County Superior Court Judge Brian Huffman granted O’Malley, a former child nutritionist for the Board of Education, $10,000 bail.

On October 24, Chatham County Assistant District Attorney (ADA) Casey Blount filed a motion regarding O’Malley’s bond. The indictment included at least one accusation: “The state claims it can influence the bond issuance. “The State does not allow the defendant to continue his current bond and argues that the issue of bond should most appropriately be determined by a Superior Court Judge at a bond hearing.”

A bond hearing has not been scheduled.
