Kentucky Office of Medical Marijuana Gov. Andy Beshear said Thursday that he will choose which medical marijuana dispensary applicants will be granted licenses starting at the end of November.

The Office of Medical Marijuana will select the winners at two o’clock Lotteries run by Kentucky Lottery Corporation in Louisville. The first lottery, scheduled for Nov. 25, will determine winners in nine of the state’s 11 dispensary licensing regions. Four winners will be selected for each region, and each county in that region will be eligible to receive one dispensary.

The second lottery, to be held on Dec. 16, will determine four winners in the remaining two counties, as well as winners in Jefferson and Fayette counties, which are scheduled to receive two dispensaries each due to their size.

Four winners will be chosen for the following dispensary regions on November 25:

  • Region 3: Northeast
  • Region 4: South Central
  • District 5: Cumberland
  • Region 6: Mountain
  • Zone 7: Pennyrile
  • District 8: Western Kentucky
  • District 9: Lincoln Road
  • Region 10: Northern Kentucky
